They never learn!

by ~kat on Dec.16, 2008, under family, weather

My DD decided to go out in the lovely winter snowy weather we have tonight! Just a dusting so far but our private road is solid ice from the entry way all the way to my front door. Which by the way is about 1 mile long.

~~~ edited to add ~~~ my lovely DD also ended up in the ditch at the 90 degree turn which cause us to have 2 trucks hookup chains to pull her out. Neither truck could do it till my neighbor and I laid down on roof of van with legs up on the trees that were .2 cm away from van and push. Luckily I have the strength of the HULK when I’m mad … so little to say the van is out.
Then lovely most darling daughter decided she just HAD to go back over to her ex husband’s house and deal with the paternity papers for my granddaughter.
Now she IS my daughter so I will hold my tongue. But I made it very clear that she will pull her own self out if she gets stuck again!
But for the record … I’d like to slap her square upside her head at this point!
She did it again!
by ~kat on Dec.15, 2008, under family
Congrats to my step daughter who swore this taught her a lesson. Apparently not, she is back in jail. Just turned 18 on the 29th of November and it took her less than 30 days to steal, lie and manipulate her foster mom and steal money from her.
How very sad! All I can say is “I told you so!” to her social worker. That’s not mean either, if you knew the story. In short, nobody would listen to me and get her admitted to residential care instead removed any boundaries and gave her free will. Well free will led her to burglary of a home and now theft of monies from her foster mom.
I hate it when the system doesn’t listen and puts these kids up for sacrifice. Which is exactly what has happened in this case. The social worker runs a little program called the challenge program and he didn’t want a “failure of his methods” on the books. So now Mr. Social Worker, you have finally succeeded. You didn’t get my step daughter the real help she needed instead you felt I was the vendictive evil step mother and you could repair this child with your “perfect” program. Clearly, you overstepped your mark and had no clue what you were facing. This girl needed residential care to save her life.
Now you just handed her the nuse!
Ok got my Wii, now what?
by ~kat on Nov.29, 2008, under family, grandchildren
Now I need to know exactly what I need to buy in addition to the Wii.
My father picked up Madden 09 for the boys and I picked up some spongebob squarepants game, only cause it was $16 and I had a $5 off coupon. Yeah a coupon for a Wii game! lol
I also have a $5 or $3 coupon for a Dora Wii game but I can’t seem to find it locally. Figured that would work for Jonathan since he’s in love with Dora and Diego.
What games would you recommend for a 12 and 11 year old? Bloody games don’t fly here, so recommend something better!
Are you buying Healthy Toys for Xmas?
by ~kat on Nov.26, 2008, under family
I have 3 grandchildren to buy toys for this year for Christmas. I also have 4 children of my own and this wasn’t a concern when they were growing up. Of course, other than checking to be sure there were no little pieces they could choke on.
Watching all the news the past few years, toys are as dangerous as drugs to small children. This really disturbs me.
If you are a parent, I am recommending a couple of quick reads and resources to help keep your children / grandchildren safe:
1. Healthytoys.org - December 3rd the site launches a searchable database on the toys you have or are buying.
2. Toy Safety - U.S. PIRG - read up on what to look for and check on toy safety.
3. Toy Safety - U.S. PIRG - Toy Safety Guide
Have any other tips or tricks, please comment and link to them.
Dear Sevastopol School …
by ~kat on Nov.21, 2008, under family
To Whom It May Concern,
I’m writing this letter as a formal written complaint against the new woman basketball coach for the 7th grade.
My son << removed name >> was left unattended at Sevastopol School on November 20th, 2008 after returning from the Kewaunee game.
I’m very frustrated that first we were never notified that a new coach would be instructing and/or having contact with our children. From my understanding, this woman has no basketball knowledge nor making sure the parents are notified of these changes. I also do not believe after tonight’s incident that she has the common sense of ensuring the health and welfare of our children.
I believe notifying the parents of any coaching changes is the responsibility of the school and/or the athletic director. I don’t understand why after three weeks we go from having Mr. Ripp as our basketball coach to a woman we know nothing about. Mr. Ripp did an excellent job in all aspects in coaching our boys from values, ethics, respect and having plain old fun. He is the type of coach that I want my child to look up too and remember moving forward in his life.
Sevastopol prides themselves in open communication and these changes are an example of this being vacant.
When my son was in the football program, I was always called by the football coach or another student that my child was on his way back to school and to meet him there. Never was my child left unattended. Someone from the coaching staff was ALWAYS present! This is the responsibility of the coach to ensure each and every child has been picked up from school; not left unattended in freezing cold temperatures for almost 30 minutes. This is unacceptable!!
I’m very disturbed by this incident and would like to know why? What the school is going to do about it? And I feel it quite appropriate that she apologize to my child and to me.
Regards,
KATHLEEN
—— sent this to our local school immediately upon picking my son up, I’m TICKED ——
Treat Nana!
by ~kat on Oct.13, 2008, under family, grandchildren
I love mornings when Jax goes down for a nap early and it’s just Yonni and me. Everything gets quiet and he plays nicely. Then there are those moments where he looks at Nana and says “Treat Nana” Awww just makes me smile. No idea why but I enjoy my moments with my little Yonni! He’s almost 3 and can be a handful. But it’s those moments I’d never give up!
