Can you run it?

by ~kat on Dec.30, 2008, under technology

Check out this site for any PC games you play to buy: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest.

It tells you if your machine is capable or not.

Wishing I had this PRIOR to buying bioshock, so now I have to upgrade my video card.

Any suggestions?

Bioshock … stupid game!

by ~kat on Dec.28, 2008, under christmas, technology

I bought the Bioshock game for my boys for on the PC. I should have done a bit more research before I did. The game out of the box has issues bigtime with just starting up. I’ve been messing with it since Xmas day and I’m about to throw it and my desktop PC right out the window. Why do companies create games that just don’t work. ROAR!!

I’ve updated DirectX, installed a processor fix, updated Microsoft visual, modified the .ini file … geezus do they want me to update my pc now too?

Uhm not happening!

I just bumped it up to 4g of ram I ain’t spending more funds on this cryptic old machine.

Ready to go on a binder!

Resume for review!

by ~kat on Dec.14, 2008, under just cause, technology

I’ve posted my resume for review on this my personal blog. Yes, it’s risky but I think it’s a risk I need to take! I have full faith in my company but it never hurts to see what else is out in the market and available.

I’ve submitted my resume for review to several companies and maybe, just maybe, someone will see something in me they need.

So if you are here and reviewing my resume … enjoy!

Cellular’ly frustrated!

by ~kat on Dec.04, 2008, under technology

Yes I made my own word to explain my frustration.

My cellular company is also my broadband internet provider. I’m frustrated because I have had this service since August. Absolutely NO complaints other than the local office is compiled of a bunch of idgits. Seriously, pack of morons, retards, freaks … there is no true word to explain it.

They have one girl that hands out cellular phone numbers to other “friends” yet claims my daughter, whose not employed there, is the fault for this. Eh ok she has magical powers I don’t know about apparently!

Then we have the other “new” girl. “new” is not an excuse to write inappropriate facebook emails threatening my daughter about the above “release” of phone numbers to other individuals.

Then we have the “guy” who can’t talk above a mousy whisper, to not returning phone calls, to telling us there is nothing wrong with my daughters phone. Yet, when you set the phone on the table and stare at it like “I dream of jeannie” blink twice the phone turns off. Piece of shit? Yup pretty much agree with that assumption!

So back to my broadband dilemma. I got my broadband internet router from cellcom in August. No problems not one. Then two nights ago I go to bed like a good girl on vacation. Wake up to find internet on … internet off … internet on … internet off. Ah uhm … we have problems!

I call DePere because dealing with Sturgeon Bay would clearly cause a migraine. DePere has me take router in for a software upgrade which is suppose to take a matter of minutes. Ok no problem, take router in to get a call 45 minutes later. “Oh sorry we can’t upgrade the software till after lunch sometime tomorrow when “the guy” is in”. What part of this does a normal individual see a problem with? The fact they only have 1 rep that can upgrade the software or the fact that they only have 1 rep that can upgrade the software. Yes, ok so I call DePere to bitch, cause seriously I work online and need internet access 100% not 5% on and 95% off. DePere raises hell with local store so the following morning I go in get a “new router” and a $25 credit to only have the SAME freaking problem.

It’s now almost 72 hours since this issue started. I’m close to going postal!

Apparently because up till two nights ago we had no snow. Now we have tons of snow so the signals are bouncing off the snow & trees. I’m really frustrated by this because it’s most likely going to cost me another $100 just for a external antenna which I didn’t need 2 days ago. If that doesn’t fix it nobody has a clue.

If that’s the case I might as well go work at the gas station make $8 an hour because being able to work online will go to hell in a hand basket fast. I really really hate country life.

I also submitted my resume to this same company because seriously they need to do something about this local office. They need to clean house!

Totally awesome!! I finally got my mac to print to my laser that’s attached to my Vista machine. I am sooooooo happy. This has been a process of which I’ve lost half my hair, swore A LOT and about threw my Vista machine OUT the window.

Blackberry 8830 World Edition

by ~kat on Jun.29, 2008, under just cause, technology

It doesn’t take long for an already geeky gal to get addicted to a blackberry. I’ve had mine less than 24 hours and I’m hooked. Yes hooked! Just what this broad needed was another technology fix. This one though I think will last me awhile.

At a whopping $305.00 plus tax. Yes have you gagged yet! I know I did writing that check.

Hey, I never do a thing for myself. It’s always Kristyn or Kyle or Jr. or Jordan. Heck even Noel gets something every now and then. Like his recent, “I gotta have this bike” or “I gotta have this motorocycle” at a whopping $500 each.

This time though I just went and did it. Only clause for me, was attempting to get AIM to work. Seeing as AIM is not compatible with my provider nor with the phone, I found a really nice program called IM+. Very cool interface. So now I’m definitely hooked.

Cellphone Upgrade

by ~kat on Jun.28, 2008, under just cause, technology

I’m getting ready to get a cellphone upgrade and I’ve been debating on three phones.

The Motorola Q …

Motorola Q

The Blackberry 8703 …

Blackberry 8703

The HTC 6800 …

HTC 6800

I’m swaying more towards the Motorola Q due to the ability to use Documents to Go but I’m so unfamiliar with the software for the Blackberry that I don’t know yet. I’m going to do some reading up today to see what is offered.
