Work + Work = Calgon take me away!
by ~kat on Jun.27, 2008, under family, remodeling
Good lord help me! Dad is on a rampage … seriously … a rampage.
Base of the deck is up and rails are needed. By Monday, the deck will be completed so we can call the inspector in to check the electrical pole AND the deck. What a pain in the ass inspectors are! Can’t come twice … no that’s too much to expect.
Right now he’s working on the base of the trailer. He won’t listen on leveling it. Just keeps trucking along infuriating me, but eh that’s father’s for ya! Especially at his age, I am so NOT going to argue. Just walk away and BREATHE!
I am just staying in the front of the trailer away from pops raking and moving rocks. My back is killing me, my arms are like wet willies and my legs well I don’t think I have any left. The mosquitoes are out in full force and spiders ~ ACK ~ are too!
By the time this weekend is done, I’m going to need the ICU for the spider that I just know will bite me, heating pad to sooth my feet, a chiropractor to fix my twisted back and one hell of a strong bloody mary to sooth my anxiety! Sounds like Calgon would just be cheaper!
Memorial Day Weekend
by ~kat on May.21, 2008, under family, remodeling
This weekend my dad is coming to visit! Thankfully it’s a holiday weekend, so he’ll stay some extra days. He’s coming up to help work on Kristyn’s trailer. Hopefully, or should I say FINALLY, the bricks under it will get done. That’s all we are really waiting for are the bricks. Basically he’s building a 3 block high wall all the way around the footing of the trailer so it has better support and insulation for winter.
We have been trying for weeks to get this done, but with noel working and other dramatic events in our lives; we haven’t got much done. Once this is done though, she should be able to move in within 2-3 weeks. We just have to hang drywall and fix some flooring. My son is going to splatter the walls and then paint which should only take a day or two. Nothing fancy … just livable!
I’ve already called the inspector and going to finish the permits tomorrow. Once that’s done there really isn’t much in our way to finishing this. Dad has been a life saver.
Other than that I have to work this weekend, which is no biggy. So I will probably just end up sitting out on the porch enjoying the beautiful 70+ degree weather we are suppose to have. I can’t wait! I may even work on getting my garden planted. That would be awesome. Dad is my pro-gardener so I know he will toss much advice my way.
