Dear Sevastopol School …
by ~kat on Nov.21, 2008, under family
To Whom It May Concern,
I’m writing this letter as a formal written complaint against the new woman basketball coach for the 7th grade.
My son << removed name >> was left unattended at Sevastopol School on November 20th, 2008 after returning from the Kewaunee game.
I’m very frustrated that first we were never notified that a new coach would be instructing and/or having contact with our children. From my understanding, this woman has no basketball knowledge nor making sure the parents are notified of these changes. I also do not believe after tonight’s incident that she has the common sense of ensuring the health and welfare of our children.
I believe notifying the parents of any coaching changes is the responsibility of the school and/or the athletic director. I don’t understand why after three weeks we go from having Mr. Ripp as our basketball coach to a woman we know nothing about. Mr. Ripp did an excellent job in all aspects in coaching our boys from values, ethics, respect and having plain old fun. He is the type of coach that I want my child to look up too and remember moving forward in his life.
Sevastopol prides themselves in open communication and these changes are an example of this being vacant.
When my son was in the football program, I was always called by the football coach or another student that my child was on his way back to school and to meet him there. Never was my child left unattended. Someone from the coaching staff was ALWAYS present! This is the responsibility of the coach to ensure each and every child has been picked up from school; not left unattended in freezing cold temperatures for almost 30 minutes. This is unacceptable!!
I’m very disturbed by this incident and would like to know why? What the school is going to do about it? And I feel it quite appropriate that she apologize to my child and to me.
Regards,
KATHLEEN

Time to eat!

Today I get the pleasure of serving lunch to 30 children at my kids school. Joy is me or Whoa is me! Not sure which at this point. See my kids attend a very SMALL lutheran school. There are three classrooms. Room one is 1st through 4th grades with a total of 14 children. Then the upper room where the 5th through 8th grade and that has 14 kids. Then you have the Pre-K and K classroom with I think 4 children. They won’t be there today but still as you can see SMALL means small.
Every month a family makes, bakes, cooks the hot lunch and serves it. Which is cool, I think! Better than them eating those horrid public school lunches. I mean seriously, I still can’t eat pizza like the normal human because every time I take a bite I remember my school pizza. It wasn’t all that fab! I think honestly you could have thrown it against a brick wall and it would have crushed the bricks. Awful just awful!
So by demand of my children, I made sloppy joes! The boys favorite other than meatballs sandwiches, which we made last time. Oh and we had a few beggars for my dad’s home made refrigerator pickles. Plus all the goodies with it. Potato chips and Brownies. Pretty easy this time. Last time I made lunch I went way overboard with some casseroles and that. But in the end its a lot of work but it’s so much fun and I get a few minutes with them at school!
